It's impressive to consider how long the Fast & Furious film franchise has managed to maintain its stamina over the last 10 years, and not fall away due to tired ideas and a reduction in quality. For me, the series has made strides in each and every film to get better, and has done so. But let's be frank, this is first-and-foremost an action movie franchise, so the acting isn't going to be methodist, the story will be miles away from Shakespearean, and the directing far from revolutionary. The reason The Fast & The Furious has made it this far, is that it wears the "funderwear" (as Dwayne Johnson puts it so eloquently in Fast Five) each and every time.

Where We Left Off...

The previous film Fast & Furious famously returned the franchise to successful heights when it re-united the original cast from the first film. The move brought fans back in spades, and Fast Five picks up immediately after the closing moments of Fast & Furious with Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker) and crew busting Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) from a prison bus and subsequently fleeing the United States as wanted fugitives. The gang ends up on the run in Rio, Brazil, and soon make themselves enemies of a criminal kingpin after they inadvertently steal sensitive information regarding his finances. Sensing an opportunity, Dom and Brian pull an all-star team together for a massive heist to set them up for life and guarantee their freedom, but also have to contend with a special forces unit led by Sgt. Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) that have been tasked by the FBI to bring them in.
