Skipping a meal here and there may seem like a good idea (calories seemingly can be saved), but in the long run it is detrimental to weight loss. Missing a meal causes hunger to increase later on and the person dieting is much more likely to overeat on the next meal. The human body is designed to store fat when meals are skipped because it thinks food is unavailable. Eating a meal is like reassuring the body that food is available and the body is able to burn calories at a higher rate.
